MVP Web Designer

🎨 Job Post: Quick-Sprint Web Designer for Interactive Housing MVP
Project:
We’re creating an interactive website that lets users explore and begin the process of buying and customizing garden suites and other small secondary buildings online. This isn’t a typical marketing site — it is the product.

This is an end-to-end small housing solution — it’s a customizable and turn-key off-the-shelf package that takes care of people’s building needs from discovering what’s possible to putting a building on the lot.

Working alongside the web developer this role is for a Web Designer with Strong UX skills to shape the layout, flow, and interface of the MVP for Apropos, our house model selection tool and our Rasseur Land Concierge service. Both are part of the broader Tiny Townships platform and brand.

🧠 What We’re Looking For:
A designer who combines clean, architectural aesthetics with a practical understanding of interactive design and user experience. You should be able to design layouts that are beautiful, usable, and grounded in real-world web structure that will assist potential clients in navigating between the online tools and giving them the landmarks to follow on the back-end where the bulk of the action takes place.

You’ll collaborate closely with our web developer and our founder to:

  • Help define and guide the user journey
    • through the various stages of land qualification and building selection
    • Based on traffic from advertising, organic search, and other inputs
  • Define how the selection interface works — we have a very good idea of where we’re heading and want you to bring your expertise and refinement to that experience.
  • Determine layout and component structure
  • Refine interactions to be intuitive and lean

💡 You must understand HTML and JavaScript well enough to work within realistic constraints and suggest workable solutions.

🖌️ Responsibilities:

  • Design page layouts for landing pages and branded sub-pages within a system where users can select base models and modify with selections.
  • Develop a clear, scroll- or tab-based selection flow
  • Create interface components (cards, toggles, progress steps, etc.)
  • Apply consistent spacing, rhythm, and typography
  • Design clean, mobile-responsive views
  • Ensure usability and clarity across all steps of the MVP

🎯 Visual Goals:
The design of this site is the MVP small step towards discovery before we implement a full-bore visual selection tool. It needs to be clean and easy to use and define the flow of the user experience.
Modern, minimal, precise. Black text on white, no clutter, no gimmicks, easy to read.

💼 Ideal Skills:

  • Strong UI/UX sensibility for product-like websites
  • Experience with architectural, design-forward, or high-end product brands
  • Fluent in web structure — HTML/CSS/JS awareness
  • Familiar with WordPress and Elementor
    • We are currently considering using Elementor for fast layout with the clean code provided by the web developer within the structure
  • Able to collaborate, prototype, and iterate quickly

📆 Timeline & Budget:

  • Timeline: 3–5 weeks from the word Go to deliver the full design for MVP
  • Budget: Up to $5,000 CAD for the UX and design work (separate from development budget)
  • Payment: Open to hourly ($50–$100/hr) or fixed-fee proposals
